Drone Frame (Green)

Using one or two of these one-piece plastic drone frames in your hive is a good method of integrated pest management to control varroa mites.  Varroa mites are attracted to the brood in these frames due to the drone's  longer larval stage.  By swapping out and freezing a capped drone frame, you will be killing many mites! 

These frames have a larger cell size, that when drawn out accommodates the drones. These frames are available for both medium and deep boxes

They are precoated with beeswax, but we have found that adding an additional coating of wax before installing in the hive, it helps the bees accept and draw out the new frames more quickly.
